How to find and read a Moon IC line

Moon IC is the Moon on the lower meridian. Follow the line shown by Home & belonging, compare a reproducible example, and separate a symbolic home theme from a relocation decision.

What is a Moon IC line?

IC names the lower meridian: locations where the Moon was on the meridian below the horizon at a particular birth instant. It is a geometric label, not a measurement of comfort or belonging. The Moon IC line differs from Moon MC, where the Moon was on the upper meridian.

In astrological interpretation, the Moon is often associated with emotional life and the IC with home and roots. Practitioner Helena Woods describes Moon IC as a home line in her own approach. That is an attributed symbolic interpretation; neither her account nor the map calculation can establish how you will feel after moving.

How do I find Moon IC in Sunward Atlas?

Enter a recorded birth date, local birth time and birth city, then generate the map. Select “Home & belonging.” That theme displays Moon IC in the current version. Open a listed city and confirm its Moon · Lower meridian label. The “All themes” city list ranks by six selected lines, so a city in that view may be matched to a different line.

The shortlist contains 6 cities chosen from 371 supported destinations by modeled distance to the selected line. Being first means nearest within that set; it does not mean the city is close by an independently validated astrological threshold. The separate city checker and comparison view let you inspect places outside this shortlist without changing its ranking.

  1. Check the birth time and city, then calculate again after any edit.
  2. Select “Home & belonging” and read the active line label.
  3. Open a city and record its Moon IC distance along with the input.
  4. Investigate housing, community, support, cost and safety separately from the map.

A calculated example: a top result can still be far away

Use the synthetic teaching input 1995-06-15 at 09:30 in Asia/Shanghai. In Home & belonging, Auckland ranks first at about 997 km from Moon IC; Christchurch is about 1,072 km away. The ranking compares destinations in this product's set. It does not call either place a good home or imply that a roughly thousand-kilometer distance is an effective range.

Keep the date, birthplace and time zone fixed but change the local birth time to 10:30. Christchurch then measures about 84 km from Moon IC and ranks ahead of Auckland. Only the time changed. A precise-looking result cannot repair an uncertain birth record.

Synthetic input: 15 June 1995, Shanghai (Asia/Shanghai). Same destination coordinates and engine; rounded surface distances, not life outcomes.

Is Moon IC the same as any Moon line or a relocated Moon in the fourth house?

No. Moon names the body and IC names one angle. Moon MC, ASC and DSC are different geographical lines. A relocated natal chart adds house placements and other factors; Sunward Atlas does not calculate one. If another article moves between Moon IC and a relocated fourth-house Moon, check which technique supports each claim before comparing it with this map.

The engine calculates 40 body-and-angle lines. The thematic filters use 6 selected lines, with Moon IC alone for Home & belonging. Other lunar angles are available in the separate all-lines browser. This page does not claim to interpret every lunar line, a paran, transit or the full experience of a city.

Does Moon IC tell me where I should live?

No single calculated line can answer that question. A distance describes geometry, while “feels like home” is a personal and changing experience. Astrological interpretations have no scientifically established predictive validity. An absent destination may simply fall outside this product’s shortlist.

If you are exploring a move, use the map to form a question you can test: which daily routines, people and places support your sense of belonging? Then check housing, work, legal requirements, healthcare, safety and community in the actual destination. Keep the birth input and line label with any comparison so the calculation remains repeatable.
