The Sunward field guide
Which Sun line are you actually reading?
A Sun line is not one single route to recognition. The four angles describe different sky positions, and a location question changes with the angle.
Visibility and a private center are different questions
The Sun marks the apparent position of the solar center at the recorded birth instant. MC and IC lie on opposite local meridians; ASC and DSC follow the rising and setting halves of the geometric horizon. This is a world map of that instant, not a forecast of future sunlight or a measure of your personality.
A traditional Sun reading often asks about identity, agency and being seen. On an MC line, that can become a question about public roles. On an IC line, it becomes a question about what supports a private sense of self. Neither interpretation follows from the geometry as a proven life effect.
Worked contrast: Reykjavík IC and Sydney MC
Our reproducible synthetic input is 15 June 1995, 09:30 in Shanghai (Asia/Shanghai), or 01:30 UTC. Reykjavík is about 26 km from Sun IC; Sydney is about 587 km from Sun MC. These are shortest modeled surface distances from city coordinates to lines, calculated by the production engine—not customer experiences.
The closer IC number invites a question about private routines in Reykjavík; the MC number invites a different question about public expression in Sydney. They are separate lines and distant cities. Comparing the two distances as a ranking for confidence would mix unlike questions.
Four Sun angles, four distinct prompts
MC, IC, ASC and DSC respectively identify the upper meridian, lower meridian, rising and setting geometric horizon. The questions below are interpretive prompts, not validated life effects.
| Angle | Geometric position | Question to explore |
|---|---|---|
| MC | upper meridian | What public work lets me act with integrity? |
| IC | lower meridian | What conditions help me feel grounded away from an audience? |
| ASC | rising at the geometric horizon | How do I introduce myself in a new setting? |
| DSC | setting at the geometric horizon | Who helps me notice the roles I take in partnership? |
Test the question before planning a move
Open the map results, choose “Browse all 40 planetary lines,” then select Sun and the angle you want to inspect. Confirm the birth details before reading a city distance. The default “All themes” filter contains six selected theme lines; it is a different view.
Choose one real setting where you could try a more visible or more grounded routine: a short visit, a project, or a conversation with someone living there. Record the input time, line label and city alongside observations about work and housing.
A Sun line cannot tell you whether a community will welcome you or whether a job is available. Compare cost, legal access, language and support networks before treating any place as a relocation option.
The map also shows tropical positions for ten bodies and an Ascendant, plus geometric crossings of different bodies’ angular lines. These are not a full house-and-aspect natal chart or a complete paran method, and they do not validate life-event predictions.
Sources and calculation notes
Technical references below explain the calculations. Practitioner references, where included, document the interpretations attributed to them in the text. Neither type establishes that a planetary line predicts a life outcome. How we use sources
