The Sunward field guide
Does every Moon line mean “home”?
The Moon IC is only one lunar angle. A Moon MC line asks a different question about care in public life, while an ASC line points to how one enters a place.
Care can be public as well as private
The Moon moves noticeably over time, so a recorded birth moment matters for all four lunar lines. The MC line marks the Moon on the upper local meridian. This differs geometrically from Moon IC, the lower meridian line used by the default Home & belonging theme.
Astrological Moon language often concerns care, memory and daily rhythms. That language can help form a question, but it does not demonstrate that residents of a city will care for you or that a place will feel like home. A Moon MC reading should not be collapsed into the Moon IC interpretation.
Worked contrast: Geneva MC and Nassau ASC
Our reproducible synthetic input is 15 June 1995, 09:30 in Shanghai (Asia/Shanghai), or 01:30 UTC. Geneva is about 12 km from Moon MC; Nassau is about 146 km from Moon ASC. These are shortest modeled surface distances from city coordinates to lines, calculated by the production engine—not customer experiences.
For Geneva, a Moon MC prompt might concern visible caregiving or public responsibility. Nassau on Moon ASC raises a different question: how do daily needs shape your first steps in a new environment? The calculated distances locate lines, not emotional comfort.
Follow the Moon through all four angles
MC, IC, ASC and DSC respectively identify the upper meridian, lower meridian, rising and setting geometric horizon. The questions below are interpretive prompts, not validated life effects.
| Angle | Geometric position | Question to explore |
|---|---|---|
| MC | upper meridian | How do I show care in work or community? |
| IC | lower meridian | What supports rest, family and a stable base? |
| ASC | rising at the geometric horizon | Which daily needs should I notice when starting over? |
| DSC | setting at the geometric horizon | How do I ask for care without assuming others will provide it? |
Check the daily life that the map cannot see
Open the map results, choose “Browse all 40 planetary lines,” then select Moon and the angle you want to inspect. Confirm the birth details before reading a city distance. The default “All themes” filter contains six selected theme lines; it is a different view.
Build a practical checklist for a candidate city: housing, health care, food routines, friends and family contact, and how much solitude you need. A visit or conversation with residents can test those conditions more directly than a line label.
If your birth time is uncertain, record the uncertainty before reading a precise lunar distance. The map does not know your family history or diagnose an emotional need.
The map also shows tropical positions for ten bodies and an Ascendant, plus geometric crossings of different bodies’ angular lines. These are not a full house-and-aspect natal chart or a complete paran method, and they do not validate life-event predictions.
